What is the Be Operating System?
The best platform ever devised for radio automation, period.

How fast and smooth is BeOS? Check out this video clip! | We chose the Be Operating System as the platform for TuneTracker, for a very good reason. "BeOS" is an alternative to Windows, Mac, and Linux that was designed from the ground-up for stability and jitter-free handling of high bandwidth media such as audio and video. For a mission-critical task like radio automation, no other operating system can match it. BeOS' power, smoothness, and stability is a big part of the reason why people love our systems so much.
What does BeOS run on?
BeOS is designed to run on standard PC hardware. If you're planning to use your own PC hardware, we recommend you double-check your PC components at this location for compatibility. If you're in doubt, we definitely recommend you go with one of our three pre-built Station-in-a-Box systems.
What is it like?
In terms of its appearance, functionality, and ease of use, BeOS is very similar to Windows, Linux, or MacOS. It's a 100% graphical, point-and-click interface that's very intuitive and user-friendly. It's so much like Windows in its layout, icons, windows, and "start bar" that transitioning to it is a breeze. How does it differ from Windows? Read on!
When it comes to performance, BeOS is just amazing. It opens your eyes to what your PC hardware is actually capable of. It's shockingly faster, smoother, and more stable. And that's not hype. That's a fact!
Want an example of how solid BeOS is? In 2002, The "Golden Master" of one of our TuneTracker installation CDs was burned on a 400 mhz BeOS machine with 64 megabytes of RAM, while simultaneously broadcasting with TuneTracker and streaming to the Internet at two different bandwidths. The CD burned perfectly, and the on-air broadcast never dropped a stitch.
And talk about low overhead! We have seen TuneTracker Basic run, and run smoothly, on a computer equipped with Pentium 166 processor and 16 MB of RAM. Try that in Windows!
Does TuneTracker Systems provide BeOS support?
Yes we do! We are well-versed in the operating system and happy to assist customers with their questions. We also provide additional resources such as our TuneTracker support group, a chatroom, and a great three-disc set of "FastTracker Video Learning Series" DVDs about the operating system.
How does it install?
TuneTracker ships with a free copy of BeOS, and installation instructions. Just boot from the CD, select the drive or partition you wish to install it to, and the entire operating system will be automatically installed for you. Just be certain not to choose your Windows partition if you have one, unless you intend to overwrite it with BeOS and TuneTracker. Afterwards, you'll boot into BeOS, insert your TuneTracker CD and install its contents.
