Worked immediately upon installation, no driver needed. Reads CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, plays audio CD's, as well as DVD movies. Comes bundled with CyberLink PowerDVD XP 4.0 software for use in Windows. Has an advanced spindle mechanism which insures vibration-free spinning, makes an interesting soft 'ssshhh' sound when initially starting up, sounds something like the automatic sliding doors on the starship Enterprise.
