This modem is ok for browsing but for download times i never get more than 4.6kps i think its just good to send and recieve faxs also when i bought it on the box it says upgradable to v.92 but i went to the pctel web site and i couldnt find the v.92 upgradable drivers this was in july of 2002

I have this modem Chipset but, I Have No dailtone. You hear on the phoneline two times switching but that's all. Is there a good driver for this modem for BeOS R5.03. (PCT789T Chipset)

My Best Data 56K modem, model 56HP92-PCT with a PCTEL PCT789T-C1 chipset worked right out of the box for me. Once I chose the modem from the list, it worked fine under BeOS 5.0 with no additional configuration necessary. As a matter of fact, I didn't even have to assign the modem a serial port, since pctel was listed as one of the options under serial ports. Cheap modem with very little setup hassle.
