Setting up ADSL on the BeOS is still a chore, but it's well worth the trip. When you see BeBits load at 8 times the usual dialup speed, it makes the effort worthwhile.

The Alcatel Speed Touch Home is probably the nicest modem product I've ever had the pleasure to use. Internal setup is polished and glitch-free, and truly allows for any eventuality. Mine came from Canada (I'm in Australia) and yet it worked with very little configuration.

There are several variants:

1. The standard Home, connects to POTS line.
2. The ISDN Home, connects to ... wait for it ... an ISDN line.
3. The Pro version, which includes router and serial terminal ports.

If you're shopping for ADSL, buy this one.

I got it! But I don't know how to set this ADSL connection under BeOS :-(( Can someone throw me a piece of advice? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I've tried many variations and many methods, but the connection still refuses to work, whilst in Windows the card and the modem work very nice.

I have this modem.I can get connected to my Isp under BeOS but cant surf any https Urls.Can anybody help us? Ihave no problem under Windows or Linux.

This modem works rather well under PPPoE with Realtech NIC, though I do get disconnected more often than on Windows. This mostly happens only during the initial connection. I am not sure if this is the fault of the modem or the PPPoE dialer, but it is probably related to the latter.
