DMA-mode depends on the mainboard used, use "ideinfo" or "idestatus" and check the "DMA"-line. For DVD-reading, you obviously will need a DVD-Player for BeOS, like videolan-client, which works fine. This is really an excellent product, reads anything that fits in, and it's very silent.
