TUNETRACKER SYSTEM IN ACTION - Using TuneTracker Command Center™

Editing the Current and Next Day's Logs

With TuneTracker Command Center™, you can make your changes to the current and next-day's program logs right in the TuneTracker interface. Items can be dragged and dropped into place from outside sources such as Lightning or from system folders, can be copied and distributed around within your logs using ShuttlePad, and by can also be rearranged, copied, pasted, and cut using your mouse.

Note that you can use TuneTracker to edit the currently-running program log as well as the log that is next-to-play. Other logs must be edited using Lightning or a text editor like StyledEdit or Pe. Refer to this information, which covers the manual editing of logs as well as some information on our Lightning program.

If you have selected the option in System Prefs that makes drag-n-drop changes permanent ("Auto-save DND program log edits"), they will be written right to your program log. This is generally the best approach, if your station always generates a fresh program log for each new day. If you are a specialized broadcaster that re-uses the same program log day after day, you'll either need to be certain any changes you make will still be acceptable on future dates, or turn the auto save feature off in System Prefs.

  •   Drag-n-Drop Editing

TuneTracker is programmed to accept standard BeOS drag-n-drop protocol, meaning you can drag audio files into Command Center from folders, your desktop, or from other equally drag-n-drop compliant programs such as our Lightning request finder program.

First scroll in TuneTracker to the place in the program log where you want to drop the item.

Find the item you want to drag-in from the outside. Because drag-n-drop editing requires you to be able to see both the TuneTracker interface and the item you want to drag-in, you may want to take advantage of our "Favorites Folder" option in Preferences. Whichever folder you specify will appear over the top of TuneTracker when you hit the "F" key on your keyboard. That makes it easy. If you're dragging from Lightning, you can cause Lightning to pop-up over the top of Command Center by assigning it to a configurable "Run button" in the ButtonPad or the MyShow area.

Now, just drag-n-drop the item into your program log. As you hover the item over the log, a blue drop-line will appear, showing where the audio file will "land" when you release the mouse button. It will always be dropped just below the item you are hovering it over.

  •   Using ShuttlePad

dShuttlePad is a really fast, friendly way to copy things around in your program log. Just drag any item from your program log to the ShuttlePad button. Then scroll to the location where you want to add a copy of the item, and drop it in place. Continue dragging and dropping as many copies of the item into the log as you need. It's a great way to rapidly add-in extra commercials for a last-minute order. If you forget what's in the ShuttlePad, just left-click once on its button, and its contents (path and filename) will be displayed in the scrolling text box.

Note that you can also drag-in an item from a folder or outside program and drop it on the ShuttlePad, which can also come in handy.

  •   Cutting, Copying, Pasting

If you right-click on any event in the program log, you'll see you have the option to copy it, cut it, or paste-in an item just below it.

TuneTracker uses a separate "buffer" for ShuttlePad copying, so items you copy-and-paste using the right-click method are stored separately. So TuneTracker remembers the unique contents of both the right-click copy/paste buffer and the ShuttlePad buffer, and you can paste into your program log from both.

In addition to editing functions, the right-click menu gives you an easy way to make an event "next-to-play."

  •   Rearranging

You can rapidly rearrange the contents around within the visible part of your program log by simply grabbing an item and dragging it up or down to its new location, then releasing the mouse. If the rearranging requires that an item be moved to an area above or below the portion of the program log currently visible, use right-click to cut and paste instead.
