SoundPlay Preferences
SoundPlay is a truly remarkable audio player which has many, many great features. We recommend, however, that wherever possible, you allow TuneTracker to control SoundPlay's performance rather than attempting to do so in SoundPlay Preferences. In particular, please use TuneTracker's Preferences to adjust overlapping and fades. Do NOT do so in SoundPlay Preferences.
NOTE: After making any changes to SoundPlay Preferences, it is necessary to close SoundPlay so your changes are saved for future use.
IMPORTANT...
DO NOT change the status of the x box next to the option, "rewind/fast forward buttons" or the option, "previous/next file buttons." Leave them exactly as they are, or TuneTracker will have problems communicating properly with SoundPlay.
MAKING SOUNDPLAY MORE "TUNETRACKER-FRIENDLY" (TUNETRACKER BASIC ONLY)
If you installed TuneTracker and SoundPlay as a demo initially, SoundPlay's window can be made to look better with TuneTracker Basic. You can change SoundPlay's appearance by making the window appear tabless, allowing it to nestle nicely just beneath TuneTracker Basic's interface. You can also make the volume knob control a vertical popup, which behaves more like a traditional slider.
In TuneTracker Command Center, SoundPlay is not seen. It is "hidden" behind the main TuneTracker interface window. You can bring it forward by clicking on its entry in the Deskbar at the bottom of the screen and choosing "Show All."
THE TUNETRACKER SILENCE SENSOR & VU METER PLUGIN
This plug-in sends playback information to TuneTracker, allowing for VU information as well as silence detection. It is automatically added to your SoundPlay plug-ins folder when you install TuneTracker. If it is missing or is not activated, your TuneTracker VU meters will not function, and the system's silence sensor will not function.
To activate it, you must drag it from the inactive list to the active list in SoundPlay "Visualization" Preferences. In TuneTracker versions released prior to August of 2003, the plug-in is located in SoundPlay's "Filters" Preferences instead. After doing so, you must close SoundPlay so it remembers the change. This is true of any change you make in SoundPlay preferences, including the setting up of LiveEncoder streams. Always close SoundPlay after making any changes to SoundPlay Preferences.
OTHER VISUALIZATION OPTIONS
While TuneTracker provides a built-in VU meter, SoundPlay also offers a variety of VU meter type applications, from which you can pick and choose. Our favorites for radio use are the Analog and Digital VU meters. Be careful with the QING plugin though. It's beautiful to look at, but on rare occasions it will cause lockups when maximized to fullscreen size.
INTERNET STREAMING AND AUDIO PROCESSING
You can set up SoundPlay to perform real-time audio processing and Internet streaming. For information on these options, see VST Plug-ins and Broadcasting Over the Internet.
