TUNETRACKER SYSTEM IN ACTION - The ChannelCaster Switcher Interface

ChannelCaster Introduction and Overview

ChannelCaster is Command Center's built-in control interface for the fine Broadcast Tools line of audio switchers. Its control features are unlocked using a special license key that accompanies purchase of one of our switcher-equipped computers. A variety of packages are offered, with as few as four stereo input channels, and as many as 16.

ChannelCaster allows Command Center to open any available input channel on the switcher, and route it to any output channel. Switcher control can be done manually, using configurable buttons in the TuneTracker interface, and also automatically, using lines in your station's program logs. ChannelCaster also gives Command Center the ability to respond when a relay closure is sent to one of the Broadcast Tools switcher's relay terminals. Uses include satellite automation and the use of an external, physical pushbutton to start an audio event in Command Center.

Wiring-up the switcher box to your TuneTracker computer and other audio sources is covered briefly in this overview. More-specific wiring instructions are found in the paper documentation included in the ChannelCaster hardware package.

It's important to understand the role of Command Center's "permanent" switcher channel option, so we recommend you read about that on the configurable buttons page of our documentation, under The Invisible Switcher Channel.

Adding ChannelCaster turns TuneTracker Command Center™ into a much more sophisticated broadcast system. Here are just a few examples of how you can use ChannelCaster to really put the "Command" in Command Center!

  •   Click on configurable buttons for direct, point-and-click access to any input source from Command Center's main screen
  •   Put multiple input sources on the air at the same time, for on-air conversations among studios
  •   Tie-in telephone lines, assign them to buttons (Line 1, Line 2, etc), and put callers on the air with a single click
  •   Hook up news networks, sports networks, music networks, and have instant access to them all
  •   Run your Marti transmitter into a line in, then log in remotely using TT Anywhere and engineer your own remote broadcast!
  •   Use the spare set of outputs on the switcher to feed an audition channel, and configure a set of buttons that let you monitor any network off-the-air.
