SETTING UP YOUR CONNECTION Learning your BeOS Computer's IP Address Whether you plan to connect to your BeOS computer only from computers within your building, or from the outside via the Internet, you will need to know the IP address of the computer. To find out, click the BeOS start button, and under Preferences, select Network. Look in the preferences window that appears, for an option that lets you view your IP address. If you are under BeOS 5, it will be found in "Settings." Under ZETA RC2, it's under "Identity." In ZETA Neo, R1, and beyond, it's found by selecting your current network profile and choosing "Edit." The IP address is commonly something like 192.168.0.3. Write the information down and keep it handy for use when connecting, if you will be doing so within your local area network, or when setting up your router, if you will be coming in from the Internet.
