INTRO AND FEATURES

Welcome to TuneBridge

TuneBridge is a tenatious "audio bloodhound" that will sniff out every valid audio file on your system, regardless of where it's hiding, and build a rich database of information for importation into a variety of programs.

Included in the attribute data acquired by TuneBridge are the Path/Filename, Title, Artist, Album, Genre, Comment, Tempo, Length, OnRamp, OffRamp, Segue-In, Segue-Out, TrimStart, TrimEnd, Composer, Last Played, Expires, BPM, Rating, and Info.

USES FOR TUNEBRIDGE
  • Generating internal reporting data that allows you to view the contents of your audio library in graphs and charts in Excel, the free online resource Zoho and many other spreadsheets and database programs.

  • Importing your audio data into third party music selection programs, including Natural Music, Selector, Power Gold, MusicMaster, and Music One.

RUN LIBRARIAN FIRST!

The very first thing to do is to run Librarian one time, by double-clicking its icon on your desktop. Things will be quiet for awhile until Librarian finishes updating your computer's audio files with new attributes and indexing. You will be notified when it is completed.

USING TUNEBRIDGE

TuneBridge is extremely simple to use. Launch TuneBridge from your desktop, and a small window will appear. You can then select all or part of your system to be scanned for audio files, using the three methods described below:
  1. If you wish to scan audio files on all mounted hard drives, make no changes. Just click the Fetch button.

  2. If you wish to scan all of a single hard drive volume, change "All" to the drive you wish to scan, then click Fetch. Alternatively, you can just drop the icon for the hard drive volume into the TuneBridge window.

  3. If you wish to scan a single folder (and all folders inside of it), click the Browse button, find the folder you wish to scan, click once on it, and choose Open, then click the Fetch button. Alternatively, you can just drop the folder you wish to scan into the TuneBridge window.
After you click Fetch, you will see a message saying, "Building audio file list." When the message goes away, and the Fetch button changes into a Save button, you can save your file anywhere you like, using any filename you prefer. If the file you are saving is intended for importation into Excel or another spreadsheet program, the file extension ".tsv" is recommended.

The data you are saving is in a "tab separated" format that can be imported into all of the music selection programs mentioned above, as well as into Excel and other spreadsheet programs. If the program you are using doesn't recognize the .tsv extension, change the filename extension to whatever works best with your program. If you are unsure of the best approach to take, contact the software company.

TIPS AND TRICKS

Tricks that let you use TuneBridge your way.
  • Even when TuneBridge isn't already running, you can launch it and use it to scan a folder by right-clicking on the folder's icon, and under Add-ons, selecting TuneBridge. TuneBridge will launch and scan the folder automatically.

  • If you want to paste the audio file data collected by TuneBridge another application in BeOS (such as a Gobe Productive spreadsheet), you can click on the Edit pulldown menu after fetching, and choose Copy, then open the other application and choose Paste. Note that by default, Gobe spreadsheets are limited to 500 rows of data, but they can be made larger by clicking on the Document pulldown menu and choosing "Document Size."
