CastAway — Remote Broadcast Add-On

CastAway is the optional remote-broadcast interface for AutoCast. With CastAway, your DJs and remote talent can run a live break or a remote broadcast from anywhere in the world — straight from a web browser — and it feels just like sitting in front of AutoCast at the station.

What CastAway Does

From a remote computer or tablet, CastAway gives the talent:

  • Real-time control of AutoCast — start, stop, fire commercials, drop in voice tracks, advance the log, take live breaks. The same buttons they're used to, in a tab.
  • A live mic feed back to the station — they speak from anywhere, the audio reaches AutoCast as if they were in the studio. Network delay handled gracefully.
  • The same Button Pad they use locally — sweepers, jingles, sound effects, hot buttons, all available remotely.
  • Off-air preview — talent can audition cuts off-air before sending them to air, just like in the studio.

The setup happens at the station Mac (which provides the AutoCast stream) and is bridged through TuneTracker Go's relay. Once enabled, the remote talent simply opens a CastAway tab in any modern browser, signs in with the PIN you provide them, and they're on the air.

Common Use Cases

  • Live remotes — broadcast a sports game, parade, fundraiser, or community event from the venue with full studio control.
  • Pinch-hit DJs — staff who can't make it to the station can still cover their shift from home, the road, or a hotel room.
  • Multi-host shows — one host at the station, another at home, a guest on a phone — CastAway can mix all of them on air.
  • After-hours coverage — handle a breaking news interruption from your couch without driving to the studio.

What You Need at the Station

  • AutoCast running on your station Mac (any tier — Free, Basic, or Pro).
  • The TTGO menu bar helper running (it's installed automatically alongside AutoCast — see First Launch & Setup).
  • A CastAway license, purchased through TuneTracker Go.
  • A reasonable internet connection — the station Mac sends and receives audio in real time.
