Facebook Live

Facebook Live uses RTMPS (RTMP over TLS) with a fixed ingest server and a stream key tied to your Page or profile. Like YouTube, you only need to supply the stream key — SignalCaster pre-fills the server address.

Getting Your Stream Key

Go to your Facebook Page, click Live to open the Live Producer, then choose Use stream key or navigate to the Advanced Settings tab. Your stream key appears there. Copy it — Facebook stream keys expire after some time, so if yours stops working, return here to generate a new one.

⚠️

Facebook stream keys are tied to specific Pages or profiles. Make sure you’re generating the key from the Page or account you want to stream to — a key from one Page won’t work on another.

Setting Up in SignalCaster

Open Settings, set Stream Using to Facebook Live, and paste your key into the Stream Key field. The server (rtmps://live-api-s.facebook.com:443/rtmp/) is set automatically.

Audio Sample Rate

Facebook Live requires audio at 44,100 Hz. If your audio source (particularly App Capture) delivers 48,000 Hz audio, SignalCaster resamples it to 44,100 Hz automatically before encoding. You’ll see a note in the Activity Log when resampling is active. You don’t need to do anything — it just works.

Starting Your Stream

Click Start Streaming. Once connected, go to the Facebook Live Producer page and click Go Live to make the stream visible to your audience. SignalCaster is already sending — Facebook just holds the stream in preview until you publish it.
