Use this mode for any RTMP-compatible service that isn’t covered by a dedicated preset — including Mixcloud Live, Twitch, custom media servers, and any ingest endpoint that accepts standard RTMP or RTMPS. You supply both the server URL and the stream key.
Open Settings and choose RTMP (Other) from the Stream Using selector. Enter your server URL and stream key exactly as provided by your streaming service.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Stream Using | RTMP (Other) |
| Server URL | The full RTMP ingest URL, e.g. rtmp://rtmp.mixcloud.com/broadcast |
| Stream Key | Your stream key from the service’s dashboard |
| Bitrate | Whatever your service recommends — 320 kbps is a safe choice for music |
Mixcloud Live is the default RTMP example in SignalCaster. The server URL is rtmp://rtmp.mixcloud.com/broadcast. Your stream key is your Mixcloud username — find it in your Mixcloud Live dashboard. Mixcloud recommends 320 kbps for music streams.
Twitch provides a list of ingest endpoints at stream.twitch.tv/ingests — pick the one closest to you geographically. Your stream key is on your Twitch Creator Dashboard under Settings › Stream.
If you’re running your own RTMP server (nginx-rtmp, Red5, Wowza), enter your server’s ingest address and whatever stream key or path your setup requires. Both rtmp:// and rtmps:// (TLS) are supported.
RTMP URLs must include the scheme: rtmp://hostname/app or rtmps://hostname/app. A bare hostname without the prefix will not connect.
RTMP mode streams both audio and a video frame. The video frame is a 1280×720 still image (your chosen background) with the now-playing overlay, spectrum visualizer, and text crawler burned in. See the Appearance section to configure what appears on the video.
