Setting Up VoiceTracker

Getting started takes about two minutes. You'll install TuneTracker Go, open VoiceTracker in your browser, and configure your settings.

Step 1: Install TuneTracker Go

TuneTracker Go is a small application that runs in your system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac). It connects VoiceTracker (in your browser) to the Dropbox folder where your station keeps its program logs and audio bundles. Without it, the browser can't access local files.

On Mac

  1. 1
Your station engineer will provide the TuneTrackerGo.app file.
  2. 2
Drag it to your Applications folder and double-click to launch it.
  3. 3
On first launch, a setup dialog asks you to select your VoiceTracker Dropbox folder. This is the shared folder your station set up — it contains subfolders for each station. Select the root VoiceTracker folder (the one that contains your station name as a subfolder).
  4. 4
TuneTracker Go automatically launches at login — you'll never have to think about it again.

On Windows

  1. 1
Your station engineer will provide the TuneTrackerGo.exe file.
  2. 2
Place it in a permanent location (e.g. C:\Program Files\TuneTrackerGo) and double-click to launch it. There is no installer — it's a single standalone file.
  3. 3
On first launch, a setup dialog asks you to select your VoiceTracker Dropbox folder. Select the root VoiceTracker folder (the one that contains your station name as a subfolder).
  4. 4
TuneTracker Go automatically starts with Windows — you'll never have to think about it again.
💡

TuneTracker Go runs silently in your system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac) — look for the VT icon. Click it to see its status, change the Dropbox folder, or start/stop the server. It uses virtually no system resources.

Step 2: Open VoiceTracker

Open your web browser and navigate to the VoiceTracker URL provided by your station. When the page loads, look at the bottom-right corner of the screen for a small colored dot:

Step 3: Configure Your Settings

Click the gear icon (⚙) in the bottom-right corner of the screen, just to the left of the connection dot. This opens the Settings panel.

  1. 1
Your Name — enter your on-air name. This identifies your session.
  2. 2
Station Name — enter your station's name exactly as it appears in the Dropbox folder (e.g. "Deep Grooves Radio"). This tells VoiceTracker which station's logs and bundles to load.
  3. 3
TuneTracker Go Port — leave this at 7327 unless your engineer told you otherwise.
  4. 4
Gemini API Key — if you want to use the ShowPrepper AI assistant, paste your free API key from Google AI Studio. This is optional.
  5. 5
Microphone Input — click Scan Inputs to detect your microphone. Select the correct input from the dropdown. The mini VU meters will show your mic level in real time.
  6. 6
Input Gain — adjust the slider while watching the VU meters. Normal speech should light up the blue segments and occasionally touch the gold segments. Avoid the purple (peak) zone.
  7. 7
Broadcast Processing — leave this enabled for professional-sounding output. The processing compresses your voice for consistent levels and limits peaks to prevent distortion. Adjust the Loudness Target slider if needed — -16 LUFS is broadcast standard.
  8. 8
Click Save. Your settings are stored in the browser and remembered for next time.
💡

You can click Test Connection in Settings to verify TuneTracker Go is reachable before saving. A green status message confirms everything is working.

Step 4: Verify Everything Works

After saving your settings, VoiceTracker should automatically load your station's log dates in the right panel. If you see dates listed, you're connected and ready to go. Select a date, pick an hour, and you'll see the program log with voicetrack slots highlighted in green.

⚠️

No dates showing? Make sure your Station Name in Settings matches the folder name in Dropbox exactly, including capitalization and spaces. Also confirm TuneTracker Go is running (green dot in the status bar).
