Librarian Now Imports Straight From Apple Music

If you've bought music from Apple over the years, through the Music app today or iTunes before that, you probably have a lot of great programming already sitting on your Mac. Until now, getting those songs into your station meant hunting through folders, copying files by hand, and typing in their details. Librarian 1.1.122 makes it a few clicks.

The new Apple Music tab, under Librarian's Import tab, came straight from a customer's suggestion. They wanted an easy way to put the music they'd already purchased on the air, and it was such a good idea that we built it right away.

How It Works

Open the tab and Librarian lists every song you've downloaded with Apple Music or iTunes, showing its artist, title, album, year, genre, and length. Check the songs you want (or use “check all”), choose whether to keep the Music app's artist and album folders or put everything straight into your Music folder, and click Import Songs.

Librarian takes it from there. It copies each song into your station's Music folder, leaving your originals in the Music app untouched, and adds it to your library with all the details it already carries, plus its measured length. Songs already in your library show greyed out, so nothing gets imported twice. And if you've turned on AutoCue, your new arrivals even get their ending transitions marked automatically, ready for the air.

It's the fastest way yet to turn a personal music collection into a broadcast-ready library.

Also New: Remove from Library

This update also adds Remove from Library to the right-click menu, for clearing out songs or empty folders, with Cmd-Z to undo if you change your mind.
