TuneTracker™ QuickTip
Doing Fast Edits to Multiple Logs

This is a great way to make small changes to a number of logs without having to make the changes separately to each of them; a real time saver! Whether they're format clocks, master logs, program logs, or even a mixture of them at the same, you can change them all in seconds with the global search-and-replace function built into StyledEdit, the text editor included in BeOS and Zeta.

Select the icons of the files you wish to edit. You can do so using CTRL-CLICK or SHIFT-CLICK depending on whether the files are all together or scattered around in a directory. You can also left-click and drag a box around the icons of the files if you prefer.
With the files selected, right-click on the icon of any one of them, move your mouse over "open with," and left-click to select StyledEdit. Windows will open for all of the files you selected.
Choose any window, select the text you want to change and do CTRL-C to copy.
Select Replace from the Edit pulldown menu or do CTRL-R.
In the Find text box, paste-in (CTRL-V) the text you wish to replace
In the Replace text box, enter the text you want to replace it with.
Put an "x" in the "Replace in All Windows" x-box
      Click the Replace button.
Your text will be replaced in all the windows at-once, in a split second. Now just save your files and you're done!

This tip works best with short changes. Do not attempt to use this technique if the text you need to replace is longer than the text box found in the Replace window. Attempting to do so with larger selections of text will not work.

If you need to do global search and replace of larger blocks of text, we recommend you use EditPad, a free, excellent text editor available for Windows.
