TuneTracker™ QuickTip
Global Search-and-Replace in Pe Text Editor

Before you shrug this tip off as something you'll never need, consider how much work it might save you, if you ever need to make changes to a whole bunch of logs, all at once!

Using the Pe editor included in all our TuneTracker installations, you can literally search and replace across multiple files, even if those files aren't even open...even if they're all just sitting idly inside a folder somewhere. Here's how it's done in the Pe text editor.

From the "Search" pulldown menu choose Find (or do CTRL-F)
In the upper window pane, enter your search criteria
In the lower window pane, enter the replace criteria If the replace text contains more lines than the search, you will need to create the text block in a separate word processor window and copy and paste it in (CTRL-C to copy, CTRL-V to paste).
      Click the "Multi-File" x-box
Click the "Open Windows" button and choose "Directory Scan."
Click the "Other..." button and browse to find the folder you wish to search. To select it, click once on the folder's icon, and choose "Open."
f you only want Pe to work on text files, make sure that item is checked.
If you want to limit which text files are used, you can change the contents of the "Any" option to match files with certain filename characteristics.
Click Replace All and Pe will go into the directory, look in all the appropriate files, and do the replacements you have told it to do.
